Julian Gregory and the Classic Jazz Trio

Description

This accomplished group of musicians from the BBC Philharmonic play a selection of music from around the world including: Eastern European Gypsy music / popular French melodies / "Hot Club" jazz / Italian favourites / American Bluegrass / Irish and Scottish jigs and reels / Latin American bossa nova and samba / Argentinian Tango / Classical lollipops.

This band has performed hundreds of times all over the North of England and has broadcast on BBC Radio 2.

The players are: Julian Gregory – violin; Matthew Compton - piano and accordion; Peter Willmott - double bass and bass guitar; Paul Turner – drums.

Glass Mystery with Ellie Redhead

Description

After their succesful gig at last year’s festival, Glass Mystery return this year performing the music from the classic Sarah Vaughan album which featured the great jazz trumpeter Clifford Brown.

The band will be joined this year by jazz singer Ellie Redhead, a local girl who studied music at the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts. After receiving praise from no less than Paul McCartney, Ellie has gone on to establish her career as a performer and session singer.

Musicfest at St Martin’s

Venue: St Martin’s Church Day

Description

Variety of musical groups and performers throughout the day, with music to suit all tastes including classical, choral, folk, jazz and brass. Schools, choirs, bands, soloists, quartets and many more will be performing both in church and in the Parish Hall. Refreshments will be served in the Parish Hall.

All finished off in jubilant mood with an evening concert. 7.30pm, £8
Proceeds from the Musicfest will be used to support the work of Blythe House Hospice and The Wellspring in Stockport.
