Description

A wonderful evening of two halves: a string ensemble from the Hallé orchestra play chamber music in one half and in the other, principal harpist, Marie Leenhardt, brings her tango band to the Festival with principal players from the Hallé. Exciting dancing may be on the agenda too!

Benyounes string quartet concert

Description

The Benyounes String Quartet has wowed audiences at recitals across the UK, Ireland, France and Switzerland. They recently performed at the Bridgwater Hall and look forward to recitals across Europe and in the UK this year. They will play Schubert: Quartettsatz; Haydn: Quartet; and Ravel: Quartet.

The concert is promoted by John Whibley who organises ‘Holidays with Music’. Arrive 11:30am for coffee, ready for the concert at 12:00 noon, followed by light refreshments.

Duos for harmonium and piano with the Scott brothers

Venue: United Reformed Church

Description

Join brothers Jonathan and Tom Scott in a musical journey which unites a piano and an original 19th Century French Mustel harmonium to transport the listener back to a sound which the world forgot.

This is a rare opportunity to hear brilliant original works alongside transcriptions of orchestral works in a performance which will fully display the glorious sound of this uniquely expressive combination. A delight!

Jonathan and Tom perform in instrumental combinations which cover the entire keyboard spectrum including Piano Duet, Piano & Organ and Harmonium & Piano. They have performed at all the major UK concert halls, as well as at venues throughout Europe, South America and the Far East. Their entertaining programmes, presentation and dynamic performing style have earned them great acclaim and many return visits.

They were born in Manchester and both studied at Chetham’s School of Music and at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM).

Adrianne Wininsky Quartet

Description

Internationally renowned cellist, Adrianne Wininsky wowed Marple Festival in 2010 with her beautiful cello recital. This year she returns with her String Quartet – a group of professional musicians who have been playing together for three years. They will be playing a programme of Beethoven and Shostakovich. You will not be disappointed!!

Refreshments included and accompanied children free. Advisable to buy tickets in advance but there may be some available on the door.

Amaretti Chamber Orchestra

Description

The Amaretti Orchestra is a small string orchestra established in 2004 consisting of professional players, music teachers and experienced amateurs. They have been voted best “Music Event – Large Ensemble” at the 2011 Buxton Festival Fringe.

Their programme will include Mozart, Lilburn and Spilsbury, in aid of Music in Hospitals. Conductor: Sinead Hayes.
